Designing a new site

OK, if you are a web publisher, somebody who publishes content on the internet as I do, you probably always have a few ideas in the back of your head (or the front!) for a new site that you want to add to your list of websites that you own and publish.

I am nearly always working on a new website project, either for myself or for others.  The reason is that I have a company that provides web design and other such services.  My company is called “Web-Earner” and can help you with making a website.  We primary specialize in business websites that make money for the publisher, but we can do any kind of website that the customer wants.  I have designed a lot of websites, both my own and for customers.  I’ve made sites that make a lot of money, and sites that make almost nothing.

Recently, I re-designed a site for a customer whom I consider to be a friend, although we have never met in person before.  We have done a lot of work together, though, and had an online friendship for a number of years before we started doing business together.  Recently, this friend told me that he expects that he will earn double this January what he did last January, and it would seem that much of that increase in business is because of the re-design of the site.

Also, recently, in a discussion with a different friend, I had mentioned that I had recently re-designed a website for a customer and that the results were really good, money-making wise, and that I was very happy with the results.  I told this friend that I had re-designed the site with making money in mind, while still keeping it friendly to the user.  He asked me what I meant when I said that one of the design considerations was to make the site earn more money.  Hmm, that was a good question.  Although that is what I did, I had to stop and think what it was that I did to fulfill this desire of mine (and the customer’s).  In the end, I told my friend that it was too much to cover in our conversation and that I would write an article about how to design a website with money making in mind.  Now, this is the article that I promised my friend, and in fact, I have decided not only to write an article but to write a series on it, this is just the introduction, part 1.
