Anytime you start a business, one of the things you need to learn is where and how to get your products, right? Well, my friend, making money online is indeed a business, so you need to figure out where to get your products and how to get them.
“What products,” you say? Well, anytime you are going to make money doing something, you will have a product. “But,” I can hear you saying, “what about that plumber you talked about last time, he is going to write about plumbing…. what is his product?”
Information, my friend, information. He is going to sell information! When I say “sell” I don’t necessarily mean that it will be a transaction where he will say, “I will show you how to fix a drain pipe if you send me $50.” Although, that could be what he does too. But, in general, he can give the information out for free and accept advertisers on his site, take commissions on selling products, etc. In one way or another, he is selling the information, however, the money gets to him.
But, this article is not about how to get the money yet. That’s coming later. This article is about how to get your product. For the plumber, information is the product he is peddling. What about the retailer? Well, let’s say he decides to sell sporting goods online. His products are things like baseballs, footballs, fishing rods, and reels, etc. But, he has to find out how to get that stuff wholesale, so that he can sell them and make a profit. That takes research.
If you have decided that you want to sell sporting goods, then you probably know a little bit about sporting goods. Remember, I told you that you need to be an expert? Well, if you are an expert you probably have a good idea of where to get those baseball bats at a wholesale price so that you can sell them at a profit. If you don’t know that, then you are not an expert. Yet. Time for you to research the field that you want to get into online. I can’t research it for you, that’s your job. I’m not the guy who wants to sell bowling balls, that’s you.
So, go learn what you need to know. Part of what you need to know is where to get the products that you want to sell. Once you’ve done the research and become an expert, you are then ready to move on. We’ll do that in the next article in the series!
